So next up in our series of guest blogs is from the the totally hip and rocking it mama Jaz. I met Jaz through the Mother's Meeting Biz Academy, and between the monthly sessions Jaz just casually had her second baby...!
Hi Jaz, tell us a bit about yourself...
I'm currently on maternity leave but work as an Ecommerce Merchandise Manager for a British heritage menswear brand and have 10 years experience within menswear fashion buying and merchandising. I have two little boys Remi-Lee who turns 5 in April and newborn baby, Zayn who is now 10 weeks old!
Did you have any preconceptions about Hypnobirthing?
Not really, I was really looking forward to it, it seemed right up my street! I'm a bit of a realist though and wasn't going to try and expect miracles as anyone can tell you anything can happen during labour, but I felt like I needed to prepare my body and mind for any eventuality and do the best I could do to assist myself during and within the run unto labour. I really believe in the power of the mind and try to set positive affirmations to deal with life!
What would you say to people considering Hypnobirthing?
I would say go for it! Not only did it help me during active labour but helped throughout my pregnancy, I was able to manage stress better, felt stronger in mind and body, and actually looked forward to Zayn's journey to entering the world without intense fear.
What is your favourite positive affirmation?
"My efforts are being supported by the universe; my dreams will manifest into reality".
What is your number one song choice for your labour playlist?
Oh, I didn't have a number one song but I did use Deep Pregnancy Relaxation album on Spotify throughout labour
What are your maternity bag top three essential items?
Lip balm, energy bar and tens machine!
Anything else you'd like to add?
An amazing tip was to find an essential oil that smells divine to you. If you smell it during labour it helps to boost your endorphins and override pain. Mine was Eucalyptus, Rosemary & Lemongrass!!
